Travellers visit Bodrum whilst on Turkey holidays as it’s a favourite tourist destination and an international centre for yachting. A picturesque harbour and an international marina can also be found here. Bodrum Castle dominates the skyline and hosts many festivals throughout the year including a Bicycle Festival, a Candy Festival and a Ballet Festival.

Bodrum combines plenty of historical sites with an up to date tourist resort and has been described as a city of two halves. More affluent tourists can be found in the west side, where the marina and the Yacht Club are located. Designer shops, luxurious hotels and stylish restaurants serving local delicacies can be found here. The majority of tourists are attracted to the eastern side of the city, as it has a thin but quite pleasant beach. Tourists on Turkey cheap holidays are attracted to the bars, cafes and night clubs that can be found here.

The Castle of St Peter is the main attraction here and offers stunning views from the ramparts, as well as beautiful gardens. It houses the Museum of Underwater Archaeology which has some amazing displays. The remains of the Mausoleum are open daily during the summer season and it’s just a short walk from the marina. Bodrum has many white stone windmills that have been there since the 18th century.

Windsurfers come to the centre at Vass where they can hire sails and boards, and around Bodrum, there are many diving and scuba centres. Take a ride on a glass bottomed boat to see the vast range of marine life that is attracted to the warm seas here. The chance to have a Turkish bath is too good to turn down for many tourists on holidays in Turkey. Located by the harbour, there is a bath or ‘hamam’, but why not try a Turkish mud bath for something more traditional. The mud is full of natural minerals that you can wallow in until you’re completely covered.
