We are spoiled for choice when looking for things to see and do on our Egypt holidays. While pyramid tours and desert safaris are expected, and certainly fun, there are some other interesting things to do in Egypt as well, if you know where to look for them. Here are just a few of the lesser known locations to visit and hopefully provide a taste of Egypt away from the crowds.

One of several lesser known pyramids in Egypt, The Bent Pyramid at Dahshur is a fascinating structure. It’s called the “bent” pyramid because of its curved shape, but despite this it is one of the better preserved pyramids in Egypt today. It was built by Pharaoh Snefru circa 2600 BC and is thought to be the centre for the cult of Snefru, although the Pharaoh is not actually buried there. The Bent pyramid offers a quieter and therefore more relaxed opportunity to explore this ancient form of architecture.

Enjoy the sights of Luxor holidays as well. Luxor is a hugely popular tourist destination but there are still some attractions which not everyone knows about. For instance, here you’ll find the house of Howard Carter. He was one of the world’s greatest architects, and a resident of Egypt for much of his life. Best of all this attraction is absolutely free!

Dahab is a fantastic base for enthusiastic divers wanting to experience the delights of diving in the Red Sea. Dive amongst fish, coral reefs and some truly breathtaking underwater wrecks. If Sharm el Sheikh holidays seem to busy, then Dahab holidays are the way to go.  Just walk into the sea to enter a world of vivid colours and weird and wonderful species of fish!
