As well as being the home of the most diverse collection of parrots in the world, it is also one of the most respected zoological sites – and one of the Canary Islands’ biggest visitor attractions. Within its 135,000 square metres are an array of fascinating creatures, shows and more. Boasting an amazing 350 different species of parrots, which you would expect given the name of the park, the parrots definitely take top billing. Bird watchers will also be amazed by the park’s collection of more than 4,000 other birds. The gigantic aquarium here houses dolphins, penguins and frightening killer whales which is well-worth a visit after viewing all the bird-life. As well as putting on Europe’s largest dolphin show, Loro Parque has one of the world’s largest penguin exhibitions and shark tunnels.
